Private Shibari Tuition & Sessions in Berlin-Mitte
Artist-led, one-to-one Shibari and Kinbaku sessions with Dan Carabas, focused on emotional connection, aesthetics, and embodied rope practice in Berlin-Mitte.
“I consider Shibari as a practice of ongoing exploration. When I teach “the art of Shibari with intention” my focused practice emphasizes tying one’s partner in an intimate and sensual way, fostering a deep connection and meaningful communication through the ropes.
For me, the essence of Shibari lies in the connection between the aesthetic expression and the emotional as well as sensual intention of the practice.
My Shibari is minimal, mostly floor-based, and above all fluid and organic — every rope has a clear reason to be there, serving sensation, connection, and emotional depth rather than just a pretty pattern.”

Who are these private sessions for?
Dan’s Approach to Shibari & Kinbaku:
Dan’s private Shibari sessions are rooted in a minimalistic, organic, and mostly floor-based approach to rope.
Rather than focusing on decorative patterns or performance tricks, the work emphasizes embodied sensation, emotional presence, and clear intention. Every rope serves a purpose — shaping the body, guiding breath, and deepening connection between partners.
This approach draws from Shibari and Kinbaku traditions, Tantric practices focused on presence, breath, and energetic polarity, contemporary somatic work, and Dan’s background as an artist — creating sessions that feel grounded, intimate, and deeply personal.
All sessions are preceded by a short intake and consent conversation.
Safety, boundaries, and aftercare are integral parts of every booking.

Private Shibari Tuition in Berlin – FAQ
-
Shibari is a traditional Japanese art of rope bondage — but in our studio, it's practiced as a form of bodywork, emotional release, and deep presence. It’s not about pain or domination, but about connection, surrender, and embodiment. You are held, not just physically, but emotionally.
-
It can feel sensual or emotionally intense — but it is not inherently sexual. Our sessions are non-sexual in nature and based on trust, safety, and presence. The intention is grounding, mindful, and body-focused — not erotic performance.
-
Yes but optional — elements of Tantra can be integrated in a grounded, non-dogmatic way.
Tantra here is not about performance or spirituality as a concept, but about presence, breath, polarity, and conscious connection. These principles help slow down the experience, deepen awareness, and support a more embodied, intimate rope practice.
All Tantric elements are introduced with clear consent and communication, and always in service of safety, connection, and the specific intentions of the people involved.
-
No experience at all is required. Many people come to us for the first time without knowing anything about ropes. Everything is explained gently, and the session moves at your pace. Your comfort and boundaries are always respected.
-
Arrival (30 min): Time to land, talk, drink tea and get to know each other.
Session (2,5 h): A guided Shibari experience — slow, intuitive, and responsive to your needs.
Integration (15–30 min): Time to rest, talk, drink water, and slowly return.
-
Wear something you feel comfortable and relaxed in. Many people bring soft, stretchy clothing like yoga wear or underwear. You’re also welcome to be partially undressed — but always within your comfort zone. There’s no pressure.
-
Not necessarily. Rope suspension is only offered after you gathered some experience with your body in ropes and if it’s safe, desired, and appropriate for your body. Most sessions use floor-based techniques that are just as powerful and often even more grounding. This is not about performance — it’s about your experience.
-
Everyone’s experience is different, but common feelings include:
Deep relaxation
Emotional release
Trance-like stillness
A sense of being held and seen
Reconnection with the body
Some call it a "rope high", or a "soul massage."

“I booked a private Shibari tuition with my partner as the model. I already had some rope experience and had attended beginner workshops, but my intention was to bring everything together and deepen flow and connection.
What Dan showed us went far beyond our expectations. My partner felt truly held by the ropes, both physically and emotionally, and our connection deepened throughout the session. Dan provided the missing glue that finally made everything make sense.
For the first time, we experienced rope from a new perspective, slow, body-focused, and deeply intimate.”
`The missing glue that brought everything together.’
