German photographer Dan Carabas was born in 1984 in Roma-nia. During the 1989 revolution, he and his family relo-cated to Germany. It was at the early age of 14 when Dan took his first pictures with his father’s ZENIT camera from the 1970s. Totally in love with this vintage camera, he started developing his cinematic, emotional and paint-erly style. Living in Paris from 2008 onwards, he worked at Le Studio Rouchon and assisted some of the most influ-ential photographers of our time - amongst others, Solve Sundsbo, Kai Z Feng, Greg Kadel, Lachlan Bailey, Max Vadukul, Satoshi Saïkusa and Michael Baumgarten.

Dan is currently a contributor for a variety of internat-ional fashion magazines including VOGUE Japan, VOGUE Netherlands, VOGUE Portugal, VOGUE India, VOGUE Ukraine, TATLER HK, HARPER'S BAZAAR Russia, HARPER'S BAZAAR Taiwan, ELLE US, ELLE Spain and others. His commercial work inc-ludes campaigns for SMASHBOX, CHRIST and UNIVERSAL MUSIC. His artistic work was exhibited at museums such as KUNST-SCHACHT ZOLLVEREIN, KUNSTHALLE WIEN, ESSL MUSEUM and is a part of the permanent exhibition at Gallery DURET in Paris and Brussels.

His work has been featured several times in the book series BLICKFANG – Germany's best photographers.

Dan is currently based in Berlin.
